Happy New Year from Transitional Youth!
Thank you for your help, prayers, and financial support in 2016. It marked our 25th anniversary. What a milestone.
Thanks to you, Braking Cycles continues to serve thousands of meals year-round for homeless and hungry youth. The meals are just the beginning, though.
We also provide these young people with much-needed clothing and hygiene items. Most of all, we get to give them compassion through relationship. And so begins their life transformation.
Thanks to you, Junction House fills a number of rolls. It’s an emergency shelter. It’s an intake house. And it’s even a permanent residence for some.
The intake role is crucial. Each young fellow who wants to enter our program stays at Junction House for several days of careful observation. The house director works with him to determine which of our facilities will offer the best fit for his needs. This step has had a tremendous impact on each one who successfully completes our program.
Thanks to you, Ritz Family Ranch is helping young men move from poverty and/or addiction to independent, healthy living. Our whole-person, long-term care gives each young man a home component and a work component. Both build on the other over time. Their home component lives and breathes at Ritz Family Ranch. Their work component is forged at the nearby Royal Ridges Retreat.
Thanks to you, Beaverton House instills self-sufficiency, self-respect, and solid social relationships. It also helps secure employment opportunities for each young guy living there. They get to grow toward an independent and healthy future through loving guidance.
Thanks to you, we plan to open the Braking Cycles Coffee and Bike Shop in early 2017 in Portland. For its patrons, we’ll satisfy their natural draw to good coffee along with the practical benefits of bicycle repair.
The shop will give us a space to provide hands-on learning and paid apprenticeships for our young people. On-site staff will teach job skills in “all things coffee and bike.” Mentors will also train them in essential life-skills.
Through this social enterprise, Transitional Youth will create even more opportunity for our young people to gain self-sufficiency. And we as an organization will take major strides in financial sustainability too.
As you make plans for giving in 2017, please consider investing or continuing to invest in Transitional Youth.
Together, we can continue to make a tremendous difference in the lives of so many young people.
Thank you from all of us at Transitional Youth!
