Dear Friend,
As we reach the close of another year, we want to take a moment to reflect on the tremendous strides we’ve made together in our work with homeless and at-risk youth. Thanks to God, and to your unwavering support, we have not only provided crucial housing and job training opportunities, but we’ve also created a lasting impact on the lives of young people who are overcoming some of life’s most significant challenges. Breaking cycles of hopelessness, and offering new cycles of hope-filled futures!
This year, we were able to:
Provide Stable Housing: With your help, we’ve offered a safe, stable living environment to youth who were previously without a place to call home. Each one of these young people now has a foundation to build their futures.
Equip with Job Skills: Through Braking Cycles job training programs, teens and young adults have developed essential skills that are already opening doors to meaningful employment. From resume-building and interview preparation to hands-on work experience, we are empowering these youth to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.
Fostering Healthy Relationships and Community: Beyond housing and job training, we’ve offered mental health support, mentorship, and life skills education to help these youth thrive in all areas of their lives. Together, we’ve provided not just resources, but also hope for a future unimagined before now. We know true meaning is found in caring, lasting relationships; family. For many youth we serve, they are experiencing this for the first time.
Oh, how I wish at times you could see what we see! To be a witness in the lives of these young people where a million tiny miracles unfold in these transformational journeys. It’s in the small victories—the first job secured, the confidence gained, sitting at a table for a family meal, fear subsiding, tears flowing, the first tender moments of feeling safe, hope ignited for a brighter future. In all of these moments the true impact of your generosity is evident.
Looking ahead, we remain committed to the plans God has for us by expanding our services and reaching more youth who need us. In doing so we are excited to bring Faithful Friends, a long-standing mentor program, under our umbrella. In addition, we have launched our new Resource Center in NE Portland. This will provide the hub and resources to reach even more youth in need of hope, healing, and tangible tools to take steps into a new and hopeful future.
As always, our core mission is to provide resources and tools that will lead youth out of cycles of systems dependency and into healthy self-sufficiency. We firmly believe and aim to teach a God-given identity of value and strong work ethic with meaningful opportunities to invest in life, where true and lasting hope is found.
The need is great, but with your continued partnership, we believe we can make an even bigger difference in the lives of babies, children, teens, and young adults in our community.
On behalf of everyone at Transitional Youth, and the youth we serve, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your commitment to this vital work. Your support truly changes lives.
Wishing you peace and the deepest joy in Jesus in the year ahead. Thank you for being an integral part of our mission.
With gratitude,
Rhona Mahl
